A great help and great resources!
Clear school-wide expectations.
Giving school-wide behavior expectations are so important in supporting your teachers.
I needed the reminder to make sure staff know I am in there corner.
Great session, My Key Takeaway:
Effective classroom management begins with strong, unified leadership. As administrators, we set the tone and create the culture by establishing clear expectations, consistent systems, and unwavering support for teachers. When we listen well, provide meaningful feedback, and equip teachers through training and partnership, we empower them to lead calm, focused classrooms where both students and teachers can thrive.
We purchased the school license for Classroom Management and require all our new teachers to go through the course and develop their classroom management plan before school begins. As a principal, I also went through the course to see what our teachers would be learning. It was by far one of the best investments in professional development. ALSO – we have been a cell-phone free school during the school day for 5 years. We still have issues with kids sneaking their phone, but it has been amazing. NO REGRETS. We even had a 1980’s themed retreat (no cell phones then) and it was a huge success!
Thank you so much for sharing your experience! So good to hear how well both the classroom mangaement course AND no-cell-phone policy have helped your school!
Having school-wide expectations is incredibly effective. As a teacher in an admin role, I have seen how helpful it is to have a series of expectations and principles for students to follow, as well as a system of discipline that is consistent across the grades. Great tips in this session!
The number one take away is to make sure teachers know that you are in their corner. This changes everything.
Thank you for the reminder that collaboration with refined constraints makes for success. It is so important for teachers to understand the why and feel they are a part of the conversation. Great reminder about teacher/parent interactions!
