  • Shari says:

I really enjoyed listening to them talk through this process. Such a great way to work through both personal and professional stresses.

  • Sally Kaiser says:

Great “how to” info! Thank you for sharing, and for the vulnerability of sharing a personal experience!

  • Christi M says:

Loved the examples. Could relate to both of them and worked my own “stuff” through as Hill worked with the ladies. Love the CTFAR model. Excited to begin using this in a number of areas in my life both personally and professionally!

  • Jill Lillard says:

Thanks everyone! I’m glad you enjoyed the workshop and hearing about the Heart Scan process and CTFAR model. These are some powerful tools when you practice them.

  • Scott says:

Wow, replacing your thoughts with truth! Love the four steps.

  • Carrie Ray says:

Need to challenge our thoughts and it will change our feelings, actions, and results!

  • Lisa says:

Loved part two when the principal shared her story and Jill guided her through her strategies to help her identity and then process through everything. Very helpful for me to have watched this session.

  • Rebecca says:

I so appreciated the distinction between circumstances and thoughts! I am struggling in my attitude toward a colleague. I just realized that the circumstances (her behaviors, choices, motivations) are not in my control and shouldn’t even effect me at all. I have been permitting my thoughts and feelings to infiltrate far too much of my mental space.
I can control (and reframe) my thoughts and feelings on this. Thank you!

  • Christine Thompson says:

I definitely need to be much better on consistently focusing one Him.
    Unintentional !!! ..

  • Carol Montag says:

Such an unfortunate story. You would think at a Christian school people would understand the Bible’s principles. I think this process helps to think through the situation and ultimately follow the Lord and his principles in the Bible. Knowing who God is and who we are. So many promises and helpful verses can help us get back on track. It matters that we please the Lord not others.

  • Lisa says:

I really enjoyed hearing the techniques that were discussed. I also enjoyed listening to the educator share her struggle story at work.
I feel misunderstood at my workplace and it was helpful for me to hear how to process through my thoughts and reshape them.
The school where I work can be such a liberal place and it can be challenging for me, so thank you.
I’m shining the light of Christ and I have to remember that as well as all are formed in God’s image.

  • Kimberlee McCune says:

Thank you for taking the time to teach us that model. It will definitely help me to organize what is happening in my life. I will take the time to evaluate the situation and find the truth of the circumstances I’m in, using the tools you have given me tonight.
    Thank you,
    Kimberlee McCune

  • Suzanne W. says:

This session was fascinating. I can see myself using this model in the future. Thank you!

Sit far back (CTFAR) and examine as though outside the problem

Circumstance (situation) → Thought (you make it mean something–not just factual circumstance) → Feeling (feelings follow thoughts, even if you notice feelings first) → Action (fueled by feelings) → Result (the outgrowth of mindset)

Write up the unintentional version (what happened), then reframe with an intentional version (what we would LIKE to have happened)

  • Heather E says:

The result reflects your thinking, not your circumstance.

  • Ingrid says:

Retraining the brain is NOT easy. Jill gave some really good frameworks and the example helped see it in action.

  • Terri says:

The real world examples are very helpful to understand how to use the model.

  • Christine Wik says:

A good reminder our thought are very important as to how we interpret the world and our students. Thanks!

  • Jennifer Jackson says:

The process “heart scan” is a good tool to support when we experience challenging circumstances in the classroom, as we often do. Whether it be with toxic work environments or challenging parents or colleagues. I will use this model. I loved the outcome for the first example, the joy and confidence she exhibited was priceless…all from a difficult experience. God is glorified!

  • Jamie says:

Seeing/hearing the processing in action was very helpful. Thank you!

  • Patricia says:

Thank you for the processing session. Very helpful.

  • Karen Davidson says:

I really like this model and I plan to start implementing it in my life. I found the real-world examples very helpful.

  • Teacher year30 says:

I dont know that people get school hurt. What that first teacher went through was a form of bullying.

  • Amy says:

I really like this model to actually address the problem instead of just trying to stifle how I’m feeling.

  • Adrianne Hughes says:

Wow! Knowing that I am doing what God called me to is a source of joy!

  • Star says:

This was really good! Wish there was time to dive into the Heart Stand fully. The breakdown of engage was informative. Realizing my thoughts are not facts but truly are my personal opinion and at times are not right.

  • Emily says:

Very interesting big pictures to consider.

  • Tricia says:

Really gave me something to think about. I need to wrap my head around my thoughts and how I react to circumstances, then tie this in with my classroom and teaching.

  • Rhapsody says:

This was SO good. I’m fascinated by psychology and how we can harness the knowledge of it to change our lives. I love this linear approach. I have a friend who has been struggling and searching for tools to address it for a LONG time; I’m referring her to listen to Jill!

    • Jen Frey says:

I know! This way of approaching our thoughts is SO impactful! I took Jill’s 5-month intensive and it was truly life changing!
